Star Hotels

What is the definition of a 5-star hotel?

Five-star hotels provide the greatest degree of luxury to their visitors through customized services, a wide choice of facilities, and sophisticated suites. Although there is no universal hotel grading system, five-star facilities provide visitors with experiences that match or surpass their greatest expectations for comfort, décor, and elegance.

Criteria for a 5-Star Hotel

Though a luxury hotel may have many of the qualities of a five-star hotel, a real five-star hotel must meet all of the following criteria:

5-Star Customer Service

Employees at a five-star hotel should be courteous, attentive, discreet, and able to anticipate customers’ demands. Overall, the expectation is for continually perfect quality.

Who decides which hotels get five stars?

There is no global hotel rating system. Hotel kinds, not hotel standards, are Deluxe/Luxury, First Class/Superior, Tourist Class/Standard, and Budget Class/Economy.

AAA hotel ratings range from one to five diamonds in North America. Only 4- and 5-star hotels are ranked in the Forbes (Mobil) Travel Guide.

The Hotelstars Union in Europe provides standard hotel star ratings that apply to hotels in over 15 countries. Switzerland uses the term hotelleriesuisse to denote a high degree of service, infrastructure, and equipment. The Automobile Association’s (AA) 1-to-5 star ratings are used in the United Kingdom.

There are laws in many other countries that set hotel rating standards. Hotels in New Zealand are rated from one to five stars by Qualmark, part of Tourism New Zealand.

The Auto Clubs of Australia (NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAC, RAA, and RACT) have given hotels star ratings based on guest comments. The Australian Tourism Industry Council is now in charge of the ratings (ATIC).

The Most Common Hotel Types

These are the most prevalent hotel kinds, and they may be found worldwide. A chain hotel, sometimes known as a “branded hotel,” is linked with a brand that may have tight facilities and aesthetic restrictions. Some chain hotels are owned by a bigger corporation, while others are owned by individuals who adhere to the same brand standards. Courtyard, Holiday Inn, and Westin are popular hotel chains.A privately owned and managed hotel with no brand requirements or rules is known as an independent hotel.

Boutique Hotel: A hotel with a distinct style and specialized service, usually based on a theme or local inspirations. Boutique hotels are typically small (under 100 rooms) and privately owned, while some are part of collections such as Leading Hotels of the World or chains such as Hilton’s Curio Collection.
